Press Release No. 048/KFCP-DIR/PR/IX/21

Bandung, September 14, 2021. PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) and Kompas Gramedia (KG) in collaboration with Kodam III/Siliwangi and the Bandung Regency Government today organized a COVID-19 Vaccination Center at Dome Balerame, Sabilulungan Cultural Area, Soreang. This vaccination center targets pregnant women, students, and the general public. This COVID-19 vaccination center is a series of follow-up programs "Rise for Freedom from COVID-19" from the City of Jakarta, Pekanbaru City, Gresik Regency, and also Bantul Regency.

During a visit to review the vaccination center, the Regent of Bandung Regency H. Dadang Supriatna, S.I.P, M.Si., said, "Kompas Gramedia and Kalbe's concern in this vaccination was extraordinary and highly appreciated. We thank you for your concern, and we have also provided the health workers. This is a great collaboration and I strongly support the Kalbe and Kompas Gramedia program. Hopefully this can be followed by everyone. In the sense that I shall be very responsive to all activities to accelerate vaccinations. Thank you and hopefully this can continue to achieve 80% (vaccination achievements) through the year 2021."

Corporate Sustainability Manager of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, Abi Nisaka, said that the implementation of this vaccination center is a manifestation of Kalbe's commitment to making the nation healthy. Vaccination efforts are part of Kalbe's contribution to the creation of herd immunity for the general public. In addition to holding vaccinations, Kalbe also continues to innovate to provide drugs, supplements, telemedicine services, and laboratories related to COVID-19 therapeutic examinations that are needed by the community.

Abi also added, "in carrying out this vaccination, in particular, we used the RT Lamp Saliva diagnostic test, which is the result of Kalbe's innovation for COVID-19 examination for health workers on duty with the aim of ensuring that the vaccination is carried out safely for health workers and the community." RT-LAMP Saliva can be a solution in helping the government to expand the reach of testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, especially in areas that do not have sufficient RT-PCR machine capacity. The Saliva RT-LAMP method does not require expensive laboratory equipment, it only requires a water bath as the main tool plus other standard laboratory equipment such as pipettes, tubes, minicentrifuge, vortex mixer.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Communication Management of KG, Saiful Bahri, said, "This activity is part of the series of collaborations between KG and Kalbe, and the activities coincide with the KG's 58th and Kalbe's 55th anniversary. The program started in last August 17th, followed by 4 other cities: Pekanbaru, Bantul, Gresik, and Bandung Regency was the last one. In Bandung Regency, the target is 1,500 participants, whereas the average in other cities is 1,000. We carried out vaccinations in these 4 cities, based on the Kompas Research and Development data of areas with vaccination achievements that have not been maximized. We do not rule out the possibility of holding collaborations with other parties so that herd immunity can be achieved forthwith."

Chairman of the Regional Communication Forum (FKD) KG West Java Purnomo Kamid Ruslan from Tribun Network added, "In accordance with its mission to enlighten the community, Kompas Gramedia also donated hundreds of copies of books to the Bandung Regency Regional Library as part of #AkuBaca. Purnomo added that #AkuBaca is part of the Nusantara Literacy Movement, one of KG's social contribution programs that are engaged in education.

Along with the holding of a COVID-19 vaccination center in Bandung Regency, today Kalbe and the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation (DKK) handed over assistance to the surrounding community. Kalbe has prepared assistance in the form of nutritional products that are important for the community such as Entrasol and other vitamins. At the same time DKK distributed donations to Kompas readers in the form of 300 packages of basic needs containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, wheat flour, packaged sardines, as well as cloth and medical masks.

"Aid in the form of basic materials for residents who are self-isolating and other residents during the current pandemic is hoped to ease the burden on residents a little because currently, they are limited in their daily activities, both for work and other productive activities," explained the Chairman of the DKK Foundation,  A. Tomy Trinugroho. During the activities of the COVID-19 vaccination center Bandung Regency, social assistance was symbolically handed over to representatives of the citizens.

In addition to Bandung Regency, the Regional COVID-19 Vaccination Centers have also been successfully held in Pekanbaru City, Gresik Regency, and also Bantul Regency. As previously known, the COVID-19 vaccination centers in these 4 cities are a part of the"Rise for Freedom from COVID-19" series of programs which were first launched on August 17, 2021, by opening COVID-19 vaccination centers for the public that specifically target pregnant women, in two locations, i.e. the BKKBN Office and SMKN 26, East Jakarta.
