Kalbe Commemorates World Cancer Day through the Cerdik Program

Bandung, February 24, 2019 - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) today through Kalbe Ethical Customer Care (KECC) and Indonesia Cancer Care Community (ICCC) commemorate the World Cancer Day with the theme "I am and I Will" at Horison Hotel, Bandung. Approximately 350 patients, survivors, and cancer observers attended the commemoration to participate in a series of activities including talk shows related to cancer themes, health checks such as blood pressure and blood sugar, and entertainment programs. The talk show presented the speaker dr. Monty Priosodewo Soemitro, Sp.B (K) Onk, - Oncology Surgeon, Santo Borromeus Hospital.

"Kalbe will continue to realize its commitment to public health, in which cancer patients being one of them," said Selvinna, Marketing Manager Pharmaceuticals of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. "It is hoped that through this activity the community will be moved to improve their daily lifestyles to avoid cancer, one of which is early detection of cancer by conducting regular health checks," continued Selvinna.

The government through the Ministry of Health has launched a healthy community movement by inviting the community to do a 'CERDIK' (Smart) lifestyle to live cancer-free. CERDIK includes C - Periodic health checks; E - Get rid of cigarette smoke; R - Diligent Exercising; D - A balanced diet; I - Adequate rest; K - stress management.
Every year, the World Cancer Day is commemorated on February 4, and International Children's Cancer Day on February 15. This moment is more than a warning because it is a momentum to raise awareness about the importance of knowledge of cancer.

The threat of cancer in Indonesia is increasing along with changes in people's lifestyle. According to the World Cancer Prevention Organization and the World Health Organization, it is estimated that there will be an increase of cancer patients in the world by 300 percent by 2030, and the majority will occur in developing countries including Indonesia. The prevalence of cancer in Indonesia is 1.4 per 1,000 populations. The highest cancer occurrences in women in Indonesia are breast cancer and cervical cancer. While for men are lung cancer and colorectal cancer. Based on the Center of Data and Information of the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, through 2010-2013; breast cancer, cervical cancer and lung cancer were the three most common diseases in Jakarta; and the number of new cases and number of deaths from those types of cancer have continued to increase. Kalbe Ethical Customer Care (KECC) at a glance
Kalbe Ethical Customer Care or KECC is a unit that is specifically directed to provide information and education to the public on health in a holistic form. KECC is making efforts to lead the public to be aware and care of the importance of health. Furthermore, the community is also implored to constantly be aware and conduct prevention and treatments on illnesses, especially degenerative or chronic illnesses. In its every activity, KECC also perform a number of health checks for the participants, i.e. bone density test, glucose level test, blood pressure test, etc.

Indonesia Cancer Care Community (ICCC) at a glance
Indonesia Cancer Care Community (ICCC) is a community that was established on February 27, 2010. Founded by cancer patients, survivors, and cancer observers; ICCC has routine activities such as cancer health related seminars, visiting cancer patients at cancer clinics in a number of hospitals, and excursions that are conducted every year. In some of its activities, ICCC is supported by KECC in the capacity as facilitator, specifically in organizing cancer seminars.
