Jakarta, 19 January 2019 - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk through its subsidiary PT Enseval Medika Prima (EMP) held a health discussion with the theme Controlling Diabetes for a Sweet Life. This discussion activity also introduced Elvasense product, the latest blood sugar monitor that is connected to smart phones and allow us to monitor blood sugar levels anytime and anywhere. The discussion is held at KALCare, Lotte Shopping Avenue, South Jakarta, presenting the speaker Prof. Dr. dr. Sidartawan Soegondo, SpPD-KEMD, FINA, a Specialist in Internal Medicine.
"Through this discussion we would like to increase public awareness of diabetes, which is in line with Kalbe's commitment to creating a healthy Indonesian society," said Taruna Widjaja, Director of PT Enseval Medika Prima. "In addition, we also want to introduce Elvasense, a blood sugar monitor that will help diabetics monitor their blood sugar levels. Elvasense is expected to be able to be the healthy life companion for diabetics," Taruna continued.
This educational activity presented a speaker who is an expert in this field, Prof. dr. Dr. dr. Sidartawan Soegondo, SpPD-KEMD, FINA, who presented the information on diabetes, the population of diabetics in Indonesia, the dangers and causes of diabetes. Also discussed is how diabetics can control their blood sugar levels and can still live 'sweetly' in order to be able to have a healthy lifestyle both medically and mentally.
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2015, Indonesia ranked seventh in the world for the highest number of diabetics in the world along with China, India, the United States, Brazil, Russia and Mexico. In Indonesia diabetes and the complications of it is the third highest cause of death. 2/3rd of Indonesian diabetics do not know they have diabetes.
"Elvasense is the latest blood sugar monitor produced by EMP that makes it easy for users to check and monitor blood sugar levels." said Dicky Mulyono, Business Unit Head of PT Enseval Medika Prima. "Elvasense is used in conjunction with an application that can be installed on iOS- and Android-based smart phones.”This makes it easy to routinely measure and monitor blood sugar levels," continued Dicky.
By using Elvasense to monitor blood sugar levels, diabetics will get accurate results that have been certified by ISO 15197: 2013. The measurement process only takes 5 seconds and then the development of results can be monitored through smart phones. The measurement results can also be sent via Email or SMS.
