 Jakarta, 28 January 2014 – PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) today once again launches its Kalbe Junior Scientist Award (KJSA) program 2014 which is a reward program for the best science achievements in Indonesia on Elementary school level. Taking place in KALCare outlet, Lotte Shopping Avenue (LOVE), the annual KJSA program covers sciences, applied technology, and mathematics subjects. Application opens on January 28, 2014, and closes on May 31, 2014.

“We are consistently committed to introduce science to children, as part of Kalbe's contribution to the development of science in Indonesia," said Pre Agusta, Director of Kalbe Supply Chain who is also the General Chairperson of KJSA 2014. “Ever since its premiere in 2011, the number of submitted projects have increased by threefold, and followed by students from 19 provinces throughout Indonesia. We hoped that in 2014, there would be an increase of 30-40% of submitted projects," she continued.

“The criteria of judgment is more focused on the originality of project or ideas drawn out from their surroundings, then the scientific conclusion that should not be too complicated,” said L.T. Handoko, Researcher from Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (Indonesian Science Board) who is also the Chairman of the Juries of KJSA 2014. “The most important thing is that they are able to find a solution from the problem they are facing and turn it to a simple science project," he added.

The Juries of KJSA consist of Dr. L.T. Handoko (Physics Research Center - LIPI), Prof. Yohanes Surya, Ph.D. (Director of Surya Institute Foundation), Dr. Puspita Lisdiyanti (Biotechnology Research Center - LIPI), Dr. Karnadi, M.Si (Dean of Education Science Faculty, Universitas Negeri Jakarta), Dra. Mayke S. Tedjasaputra, M.Si (Psychologist and Lecturer of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia).    

The requirement of participation is simple, among which is being a 4th, 5th or 6th grade elementary student during registration, owning or creating a simple science project from own ideas and not a copy, can be made individually or by group.  Other requirements of participation can be viewed at Eighteen (18) finalists will eventually be brought to Jakarta to present their science projects to the Board of Juries, who will then chose nine (9) winner.  Nine of the best projects will win an educational fund of Rp 10 million and school aid fund of 10 million, while the remaining nine will receive one unit of laptops.
