Jakarta, 19th April 2012 – PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) in partnership with the Ministry of Reseach and Technology of the Repulic of Indonesia (Kemenristek RI) launched the Ristek Kalbe Science Awards (RKSA) 2012 by holding a National Seminar themed “The Future of Research in Indonesia: Between Challenges and Opportunities” at the Kemenristek RI building. The RKSA 2012 is the third time this event being held since 2008.

“Through this event, Kalbe would like to promote research and young researchers in Indonesia,” said Irawati Setiady, President Director for PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. “We hope that this initiative could be followed by other companies or institutions in other fields so Indonesia could compete in the world, not merely as a country rich in natural resouces but also in people creativity, through research breakthroughs.”
“As a health care company, Kalbe’s almost 46 years of existence can not be separated from research activities,” said dr. Boenjamin Setiawan Ph.D, Founder of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. “Without research, there will be no innovative products. And without innovative producs, it would be difficult for a company to grow and compete, especially in the global market.”

Research and Technology Kalbe Science Awards 2012 is a form of cooperation between academics, business players, the government and community in enhancing a conducive climate,” said Prof. Dr. Amin Soebandrio, Ph.D, SpMK. Expert Staff in Health and Medicine Field for the Ministry of Research and Technology . “This activity is at the same time acknowledging the individuals who have produced and excelled in research, development and application of science in Indonesia. With the RKSA 2012 event, we hope that other related parties will also be triggered to contribute in developing a conducive science and technology climate and to reward excellent science and technology practitioners.

The RKSA 2012 event is intended to give an appreciation to the Indonesian researchers who have been dedicated and have worked very hard in producing research works in the health field. In the RKSA 2012, research fields being competed for include the Medicinal Ingredients (Biotechnology, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Chemistry/Pharmacy Technology), Diagnostic, and Functional Food Medication Method. Registration starts on 19th April 2012 and closs on 30th June 2012. requirements for participation can be accessed through Finalists will be invited to Jakarta to present their research results to the juries and the winner will be chosen on the night of ceremony, 7th September 2012.
The RKSA 2012 juries consist of experts in their fields, such as Prof. Dr. Amin Soebandrio, Ph.D, SpMK. (Expert Staff in Health and Medicine Field for the Ministry of Research and Technology),  Dr. Ir. Listyani Wijayanti (Deputy Head, BPPT Technology of Agroindustry dan Biotechnology Division), Prof. Dr. Wahono Sumaryono, Apt. (Expert Councelor, BPPT Technology of Agroindustry dan Biotechnology Division), Prof. dr. Sofia Mubarika, H,M. Med.Sc, Ph.D (Professor, Medical Faculty UGM, Jogjakarta), Prof. Dr. Yeyet Cahyati Sumirtapura, DEA, Apt. (Professor, School of Pharmacy ITB, Bandung), Prof. Maggy Thenawidjaja Suhartono, Ph.D (Professor, Departement of Food Science and Technology IPB, Bogor), dan Prof. Dr. Yahdiana Harahap, MS, Apt. (Deacon, Faculty of Pharmacy, UI)
