Kalbe Boosts Children’s Interest For Science

Jakarta, 9 April 2013 – Today, PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) start the socialization of the series of activities of Kalbe Junior Scientist Award (KJSA) 2013, a tournament of science competition at the level of elementary school throughout Indonesia, by holding an educational discussion with the theme "Science Education in Elementary School Curiculum 2013", held at the Financial Club, Graha CIMB Jakarta. Through the discussion, it is expected that a change to the elementary school curiculum, particularly in science, can be vieved positively and would encourage children to learn and love science.

”Kalbe us committed to consistently introduce science to the public from childhood years, said Andreas S. Santoso, the Daily Chief of Kalbe Science 2013. “Other than KJSA, we are also holding children's science events, Kalbe Junior Science Competition and Kalbe Junior Science Fair; in the form of the largest children's science exhibition and fair which will be held in the upcoming September.”

“The Kalbe Junior Scientist Awards is an annual event organized by Kalbe since year 2011 with the theme of Innovation for a Better Life," said Arief Nugroho, Chairman of the Committee of Kalbe Junior Scientific Award 2013. "We are also hoping that KJSA 2013 could keep the enthusiasm of elementary school children to be further in love with knowledge, science and technology, which will lead to the advancement of our nation and country.”

Kalbe-Junior Scientist Award (KJSA) is a science project competition event for elementary school students. The simple science projects that are allowed to be registered are limited to integrated science, applied technology, and mathematics. The activities are designed for children of fourth to sixth grade of elementary in a national scale. Registration has started on April 9, 2013, and will be closed on June 22, 2013. Terms and conditions of the competition can be accessed through http://www.kalbescienceawards.com Eighteen (18) finalists will be invited to Jakarta to present their projects to the Board of Judges, which will then picked out nine (9) winners whose projects will be displayed at Kalbe Junior Science Fair in September 2013.

The team of judges for Kalbe Junior Scientist Award 2013 consists of highly competent figures, among which are Dr. L.T. Handoko (RC-Physics LIPI),  Prof. Yohanes Surya, Ph.D. (Director of Surya Institute Foundation),  Dr. Puspita Lisdiyanti (RC-Biotechnology LIPI),  Dr. Karnadi, M.Si (Dean of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Jakarta), Dra. Mayke S. Tedjasaputra, M.Si (Psychologist and Lecturer of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia).
