Jakarta, 17 March 2013 – PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) through their Kalbe Ethical Customer Care (KECC) is holding healthy activities to celebrate World Kidney Day. This activity is is filled with health examinations consisting of blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol check, and a talk show with Dr. Tunggul Situmorang, Sp.PD-KGH (President Director of PGI Cikini Hospital, Jakarta) as guest speaker; with Kris Biantoro (Entertainer), who has been a kidney patient for 39 years. The event started at 08.00 am, took place at the Conference Room, Bintang Toedjoe; and was attended by 400 participants coming from numerous communities and individuals.
“Kalbe has been annually commemorating World's Kidney Day.” said Johannes Suthya, Deputy Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. “Through this activity; we wish to encourage the public, particularly those with kidney ailment, to give more care and attention to their kidney. People's current lifestyle is very susceptible to diseases and it is also affecting the kidney function. We rarely pay attention to the kidney's health, and the kidney holds a very important role in human metabolism.”
“Today's activities are the culmination of the string of activities for World Kidney Day that is organized by KECC,” said dr. Ita Widjajanti Sandjaja, Manager of KECC. "On March 14, KECC had simultaneously organized several education activities by distributing information booklets on kidney at a number of cities: Jakarta (Bundaran HI), Solo (6 hospitals: dr.. Moewardi Hospital, dr. Oen Hospital, PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Kasih Ibu Hospital, Yarsis Hospital, Sukoharjo Hospital) dan Malang (3 Hospitals: Saiful Anwar Hospital, Panti Waluyo Sawahan (RKZ) Hospital, Lavalette Hospital).”
The activity is also supported by Indonesia Kidney Care Club (Kidney Patient Association), a foundation that is actively educating the public on the importance of kidneys for our bodies. World Kidney Day is commemorated annually on every second Thursday of March.
