At present day, breast cancer is a type of cancer that is severely frightening for Indonesian women. Breast cancer has the tendency to affect women over the age of 50. There are 8 to 10 cases of breast cancer occurring for women at this age. There are several factors that trigger breast cancer on women. Aside of genetic and environmental factors, lifestyle is also one of the leading cause of breast cancer. There is no adequate knowledge on the actual cause of breast cancer; therefore early detection should be one of the methods of control of breast cancer. When breast cancer is detected early and diagnostic and medication is adequately available, there is the opportunity for breast cancer o be healed.

The threat of cancer in Indonesia is also increasing with the change of lifestyle of the population. According to World Cancer Prevention Organization and World Health Organization, it is predicted to be an increase of cancer by 300 percent by year 2030, and the majority of the case will happen in developing countries, including Indonesia. According to the Department of Health, at present, there is 1 cancer patient in 1,000 in Indonesia and it is estimated that there will be 200,000 new cancer patients every year.
