PRESS RELEASE No. 036/KFCP-DIR/PR/V/22

Jakarta, May 24th, 2022. PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe), through its business line Kalbe Consumer Health and its brand Sakatonik Activ, was educating the society on the importance of detecting the vitamin D deficiency, since it could happen to almost all age groups, including in tropical countries such as Indonesia.

There are several factors that could influence the vitamin D deficiency, such as the amount of exposure to sunlight, low vitamin D absorptions, age, skin color, obesity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and several comorbidity diseases,” as stated by the Health Practitioner of Klikdokter, dr. Devia Irine Putri.

According to the 2020 Medical Journal, one of out two Indonesians experienced a vitamin D deficiency. This was proven by a survey in which only 14 percent of people were aware whether they experienced such deficiency or not. One probable cause for this was they did not recognize any symptoms of the vitamin D deficiency.

Several of those symptoms include easy fatigueability, easily fall ill, longer healing of injuries, mood swings, tendencies to feel sad and gloomy, too much worrying, and hair fallings. In addition, the vitamin D deficiency could cause fractures despite having small injuries, bone pains, and muscle crams,” said dr. Devia.

It should be noted that fulfilling vitamin D is important to maintain the body’s durability, as well as ensuring healthy bones, teeth, and muscles, and preventing several chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes melitus, and autoimmune.

As the answer for such issue, Kalbe, through Sakatonik Activ, has collaborated with Klikdokter by presenting the D3TES, the first online-based education tools in Indonesia which is both quick and practical in detecting the vitamin D rate potentials in the body.

The Brand Manager of Sakatonik Group, Sonny Rifendy, stated that The D3TES online tools were launched in order to educate and enligthen the people, especially those in their productive ages with routines and limited times, on fulfilling their vitamin D intakes.”

D3TES can be accessed through the www.sakatonik.co.id/d3tes website or a link in the Instagram official account of @SakatonikActiv.id, where users can fill in their personal data and answer a short questionnaire for D3TES.

As explained by dr. Devia, The screening can be easily accessed by answering several short questions about symptoms, risk factors, and lifestyle. The result will later be divided into three categories based on the determined scores.”

After answering all questions, the users can get their vitamin D rate results to detect whether they have a vitamin D deficiency or not. The D3TES also has a suggestion and recommendation section from doctors to inform about further actions regarding those results.

Meanwhile, the vitamin D intake itself can be naturally gained through sunlight, that contains UV lights, to help forming vitamin D3 inside the body, as well as consumptions of nutrients and vitamin D supplements. One such supplement is Sakatonik Activ D3-1000, in a shape of film-coated tablets, that contains vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) of 1000 IU or around 25 mcg.

The right, quick, and practical solutions for fulfilling the vitamin D needs are required to do activities that slowly return to normal. Sakatonik Activ is committed to continue its contribution for the health of Indonesian families, especially in the fulfillment of vitamin D, through relevant educations,” as Sonny concluded.
