Kalbe Launches The Cancer Medical Facilities in Indonesia

Jakarta, 23 January 2014 – PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) today through its subsidiary. PT Dankos Farma is opening several production facilities, among which are oncology medication, expansion on non-hypodermic beta-lactam facilities, and the Kalbe Learning Centre.  The production and training facilities that is located at Pulogadung Industrial Facilities has been inaugurated by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia that is represented by the Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. dr Ali Ghufron Mukti M.Sc.,Ph.D.  

“Kalbe has the initiative to build an oncology medication factory, in order to provide high-quality cancer medication with affordable price for Indonesian, and may even be exported overseas thereafter," said Irawati Setiady, President Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. “This facility is expected to support the national dream of Indonesia to become the host of its national products." she continued.

The construction of the Oncology medication factory that is located on a 1,800 sqm land with 3,800 sqm building has been started since 31 March 2011. Using the most advanced technology and technology transfers from partners experienced in cancer-medication production, the oncology factory is ready to produce both oral and intravenous cancer medication.

Kalbe has been marketing cancer medication since 1988, and by 1996, Kalbe acquired one of Indonesia's oncology medication manufacturers as Kalbe's contribution on fulfillinf the needs of cancer medication in Indonesia.  In 2006 Kalbe also established the Stem Cell dan Cancer Institute as the first research facilities on cancer, and by 2009, established Kalbe Genomics or KalGen as the first mollecular diagnosis laboratory in Indonesia.  

“We also understands the importance of developing the competence of human resources, we therefore established the Kalbe Learning Centre, which is a technical training center for candidates of production operator at Kalbe,” said Irawati Setiady.

Kalbe Learning Centre is equipped with trainings in-class and on production machineries, process control equipments, and other technical equipments.  In the training process, the operator candidates will perform a work simulation that corresponds to the actual production situation in the factory.
