CARE FOR VICTIMS OF MOUNT SEMERU DISASTER  KALBE DISTRIBUTES AIDS OF MEDICINE, NUTRITION, AND VITAMIN

Jakarta, December 18, 2021, PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) conducted care action for the victims of the Mount Semeru disaster by distributing medicine and vitamins as needed by the people at the Semeru disaster evacuation post. In distributing medicine and vitamins for the victims of the Semeru disaster, Kalbe collaborated with the Higher Education Service Institution 3 (LLDIKTI), National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Regional Disaster Management Agency - DKI Jakarta (BPBD), LLDIKTI Volunteers (REDI), Kalbis Institute, and PT Pos Indonesia. The aids in the form of medicines such as stomach medicine, skin medicine, antibiotics, and other medicines has been handed over to RSUD dr. Haryoto Lumajang and was received by drg. Erfi Herawati, Deputy Director of RSUD dr. Haryoto Lumajang. Whereas the nutritional aid for infants and toddlers, vitamins C, D, multivitamins, and other OTC drugs were presented to the Lumajang District Social Service and received by Dra. Dewi Susiyanti, the Head of the Lumajang District Social Service for use in refugee posts.

“This care action for the victims of the Semeru disaster is part of Kalbe's concern for public health, specifically for those affected by the Semeru disaster. This action is in line with Kalbe's vision and mission as well as Kalbe's pillar of sustainability of Together Make the Nation Healthy," said Hari Nugroho, Head of External Communication and Stakeholder Relations of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk.

Hari added that disaster-affected communities must quickly get good health services. Kalbe as an Indonesian health company must move quickly and actively help the community to gain access to healthcare. He also added that the medicines and vitamins provided were products owned by Kalbe and its subsidiaries.

"This care action is also part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, that is community service," said Prof. Dr. Agus Setyo Budi, M.Sc., the head of LLDIKTI that is Kalbe's partner in the distribution of drug and vitamin aid.

Agus added that LLDIKTI welcomed Kalbe's concern in helping the victims of the Semeru disaster. LLDIKTI will support the distribution of the aid, including through sending DIKTI volunteers.

"This action of care is a part of character building as well as increasing empathy of the academics towards the general public," added Agus.

Meanwhile, Agus Hadi Mursalim, Business Area Manager for the Jember region of PT Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk (Enseval) - a subsidiary of Kalbe that is engaged in distribution - is representing Kalbe in the delivery of aid in Lumajang; said that the aid of medicines and vitamins to affected communities of the Semeru disaster was welcomed by the stakeholders of both the Lumajang Regional Government and the RSUD.  Agus hopes that the assistance can help the community to maintain their health.

Kalbe's subsidiaries that are involved in distributing the aids of drugs and vitamins are PT Saka Farma Laboratories (SF), PT Enseval Medika Prima (EMP), PT Bintang Toedjoe, PT Sanghiang Perkasa (KN), PT Hexparm Jaya Laborarotaries (HJ) and Kalbe Ethical / Pharma.

"We do not close the possibility that Kalbe will redistribute aid for the next stage if needed," concluded Agus Mursalim.
