THESE ARE THE SCIENCE PROJECTS OF THE WINNERS  OF KALBE JUNIOR SCIENCE AWARD (KJSA) 2021

Jakarta, November 13, 2021, PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) today awarded the winners of the Indonesian-wide elementary school level science project  competition, the Kalbe Junior Scientist Award (KJSA) 2021. The science project  competition which has been held by Kalbe since 2011 has determined the 3 best winners and 1 favorite winner.   This science project  competition with the title Science Experience at Home was held to encourage elementary school students to create simple science projects related to their daily environment, especially from the health aspect considering the current COVID-19 pandemic situation of the present.  

 

"We are Kalbe's commitment is to always create innovations based on research and science development transmitting to young scientists throughout Indonesia by cultivating their love for science from an early age through KJSA," said Vidjongtius, President Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. "It is hoped that through KJSA, children as the nation's next-generation can be encouraged to always think critically, foster curiosity, and develop a culture of innovation and good competition in schools, and can stimulate innovation and competition in schools as well going forward," added Vidjongtius.

 

The winners of KJSA 2021 are

  • 1st place winner, Adelia Shovia Putri and Dania Azra Nazifa, with their project Oksibraille from SD Muhammadiyah Manyar Gresik received a cash prize of IDR 10,000,000 along with IDR 1,000,000 for the companion.
  • 2nd place winner, Ngurah Bagus and Ananda Puja, with their project, Digital Compress for Fever Reduction from Saraswati 3 Elementary School Denpasar, received a cash prize of IDR 7,500,000 along with IDR 1,000,000 for the companion.
  • 3rd place winner, Ferdian Affandi Budiansyah, with his project Clean adn Clear Doormat from SDN Ngadirgo 03 Semarang received a cash prize of IDR 5,000,000 along with IDR 1,000,000 for the companion

 

For the KJSA 2021 favorite winners, Ngurah Bagus Raditya and Ananda Puja from Saraswati 3 Elementary School Denpasar, will get IDR 2,500,000 in cash.

 

"We express our appreciation to PT Kalbe Farma for providing space for Elementary School children to be able to express their abilities, increase their creativity and innovation through the 2021 KJSA event as well as an appreciation for Kalbe's collaboration which has provided a lot of support, through various activity programs that are in Kalbe, synergizing partnerships with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology," said Sri Wahyuningsih, Director of Elementary Schools of the Ministry of Education and Culture in her speech representing the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology. "Kalbe is collaborating with the Ministry as an effort to encourage our children, students at all levels of education, especially the elementary school level to become Pancasila students, Pancasila buds, as agents of change at the elementary school level to inspire, to influence all of my friends to become Pancasila students," he added.

 

The selection of the projects of the 2021 KJSA program was carried out in three stages, i.e. the first stage was to select out of the 144 entries from all elementary school children in Indonesia in October. Then the next stage is the creation of the project and in the last stage, the 10 finalists presented their scientific works before the board of juries in early November 2021.  The juries determined the 3 best winners out of the result of the presentation.  While the judgment of the favorite winner is done online on KJSA Instagram based on the most votes and comments.

 

"This is a bit unexpected because, during the pandemic, where it is difficult for us to meet while everyone studies from home, it turns out that these young researchers are still actively conducting research, so many works are submitted to us and are very creative," said Pre Agusta Siswantoro, the Chair of the 2021 KJSA Jury Council. “Furtnermore, these works respond to what is around the young ones, who showed much care for those around them who needed extra care, and this is very special because not only they are attuned to their surrounding, but also to the environment, parents, elderly, siblings, and disabled folks," he added.

 

The juries of KJSA 2021 are Pre Agusta Siswantoro, Consultant External Relations of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk.; M. Syachrial Annas, Director of PP-IPTEK; Theresia Ningsi Astuti, Coordinator of Research and Innovation Infrastructure Partnership Development of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN); Abdul Mukti, Developer of the Young Learning Technology of the Primary School Directorate - Kemendikbud; and Sonya Hellen, Journalist of Kompas.

 

KJSA is a science project competition program for elementary school (SD) students throughout Indonesia. This program is held annually, starting in 2011 until now. In 2021, KJSA carries the theme Science Experience at Home that is based on the passion to create projects that are health-related through the struggles of the situation and conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
