Labor Practices

Kalbe is dedicated to implementing responsible employment practices, developing the skills and knowledge of its employees, and safeguarding the welfare of its people. The Company aims to provide its employees at all levels with ample opportunities for personal and professional development. It regularly offers numerous training programs aimed at developing technical and nontechnical skills, improving employee competencies, increasing organizational competitiveness and enhancing the satisfaction of customers and other stakeholders.

Over the course of 2017, Kalbe has invested a total of Rp27.1 billion for training and development activities. 


A safe and healthy working environment is a top priority for Kalbe. This is defined no just within the Company’s policy to prevent work related accidents and sickness, but is also included in the Key Performance Indicators to ensure that every individual has the responsibility to achieve the zero accident target.

In one of the units, the Company has started to implement a Behavior Driven Program which is systematically and consistently performed to build commitment, involvement and exemplary practices in the workplace.

Continuous improvement is implemented to improve human resources quality with emphasis on mentality, technical competence, resource adequacy and knowledge management. To drive improvement, strategic action plan is implemented by adopting relevant strategic tools, process tools and improvement tools by leveraging on information technology and infrastructure.

As a guide for its OHSA management system, the Company has received OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications for some of its production facilities. Following are some of the activities related to OHSA management system:

1. OHSE Committee
OHSE Committee was established by involving people from various functions, and is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Company’s OHSA programs, covering OHSA inspection, Contractor’s OHSA inspection, Contractor Briefing, Employee Briefing, Rapid Disaster Response Training and other types of activities.

2. Rapid Disaster Response Training
To enhance the competence of officers in charge of disaster response activities, the Company holds rapid disaster response training sessions, covering trainings on fire drills, evacuation and first aid in the event of accidents. Training sessions are conducted regularly, participated by the security staff and Kalbe’s employees.

3. Rapid Disaster Response Simulation
Simulations on rapid disaster response are conducted to test the reliability of the rapid disaster response procedures and facilities. Simulation sessions are conducted once every year with full participation from all employees.

4. Total Productive Maintenance – SHE
With the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), activities to avoid the occurrence of man-machine interaction related accidents become the center of focus. The Company gives adequate attention to the safety tools of its machines to ensure the best performance. In addition, machine operators are encouraged creating the mindset that safety is the responsibility of every individual.

5. Routine Emergency Facility Inspection
Routine inspection on emergency facility is held to ensure readiness, including inspection on first aid facilities, emergency stairs and evacuation routes.
