Stunting is a chronic malnutrition disorder which causes a short body posture. A person contracted with it is generally vunarable to various diseases, as well as having a below average intellegence and lower productivity. Pregnant women become one main priority target in decreasing the stunting cases through family approach, by intervening all family members with such risk, including teenage girls, newlyweds, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and toddlers.
Therefore, providing milk to pregnant women is necessary for increasing their weight, fulfilling their animal protein capacity, and decreasing their chances of anemia. All these things will prevent stunting to their babies or ensuring that they will reach a minimum lenght of 48 cm during their birth.
There are several indicators of success of this stunting program for pregnant women, such as drinking milk in routine, increasing the knowledge on stunting, providing a balanced diet menu, a clean and healthy behavior (PBHS), and evaluating the comparison of their nutrient indicators before and after the program.
YARSI University has previously conducted this program since 2019 in several regions, including in Pandeglang, Central Jakarta, and Bantar Sari Village in Bogor.
