Kalbe Holds Financial Literacy Training in Paniis Village

PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) today with the Kalbis Institute and the Volunteer School, a non-profit disaster response organization, held a financial literacy training activity in Paniis Village, Taman Jaya, near Ujung Kulon National Park, Banten with the topic of Family and Small Business Finance. The training activity aimed at the people of Paniis Village was guided by Amalia Khoirun Nisa, QWP, a financial consultant as well as the founder of the Mommenkeu Project with the account instagram @mommenkeu. The financial literacy training, which was attended by dozens of residents, most of whom are housewives, is a form of Kalbe's social care for the community. This training activity which targets mothers is also a form of Kalbe's active participation in implementing of the Sustainable Development Goals, i.e. achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls.

“This training, which was held together with the Kalbis Institute and the Volunteer School, is a form of Kalbe's commitment to the community so that they can independently manage the financial system, and because the main participants are housewives, the hope is that it can help reach their family's financial system,” sait Abi Nisaka as Coporate Sustainibility Manager of PT Kalbe Farmba Tbk. “We learn how to manage finances, to manage our financial income too. Expenditures must be controlled and we have to know how much can be saved, and even as well as to plan for the future," added Abi. Based on this, Kalbe needs to provide a briefing to the people of Kampung Paniis, especially for wives to allow them to have the right knowledge on how to manage the family financial system.

According to the Head of RW 06, Kiwong, the number of residents consists of 126 heads of families and 490 people, the majority of the population are farmers, fishermen, and tourism industry players on Peucang Island and Badul Island. The residents only rely on their income from local agriculture, fisheries and tourism which affects the income they receive every month. “Our residents are not the group of people who have regular income every month. The income they receive is highly dependent on natural bounties,” said Kiwong.

In the division of territory, Paniis Village is included in the RW 06. While RW 06 is divided into two neighborhood units (RT).

Kalbe has previously taken part in providing assistance to the residents of Paniis Village who were affected by the 2018 tsunami. In 2020, Kalbe has also carried out several community-based development activities with the theme of disaster recovery and the socio-economics of the local community.
