Niaxid Syrup
Niaxid has an antibacterial effect, especially for Mycobacterium
tuberculosis, the microorganism which spreads the TB disease in the air
suspension. Isoniazid will act bactericidal to active basil and
bacteriostatical to dormant basil.
The adding of Vitamin B6 is intended to prevent pheripheral neuropathy which
is the side effect of long-term INH administration
Composition
Per 5 ml syrup contains :
Isoniazid (INH) 100 mg
Pyridoxin HCl (Vitamin B6) 10 mg
Indication
Prophylaxis and therapy of Tuberculosis infection
Contra Indication
Hypersensitive to INH and Pyridoxin HCl
Warning
– Renal and hepatic impairment
– Pregnancy & lactation
– Patients who are suffer from diabetes mellitus; seizure; and chronic alcoholism
– Patients who are receiving hepatotoxical-drug therapy
Adverse Reaction
Liver disorders, GI disturbance; seizure; photosensitivity; rash; glucose-level increament; mental disturbance; haematological disturbance; metabolic reaction
Dosage
Prophylaxis :
10 mg/kg/day, once daily (maximum doses : 300 mg/day)
Therapy :
Adult 5-10 mg/kg/day, once daily; children 10-20 mg/kg/day once daily. The maximum doses are 300 mg/day
