Digest
Digest is used to treat peptic ulcer due to the effectivenes of Lansoprazole
blocking the potential acid-secretion in stomach. Lansoprazole is one of
Proton-Pump Inhibitors (PPI) which is unstable in acid environment so that
it is formed into enteric-coated granules.
Composition
Each capsule contains Lansoprazole 30 mg
Indication
– Duodenal ulcer
– Benign gastric ulcer
– Reflux oesophagitis
Contra Indication
Patients who are hypersensitive to Lansoprazole
Warning
• Before starting treatment, avoid the possible of gastric malignancy
• Avoid use in pregnant women. If needed, Digest may be given but breastfeeding must be discontinued.
• The safety and effectivity in children have not been assessed
Adverse Reaction
Headache; diarrhea; abdominal pain; dyspepsia; dry mouth; constipation; urticaria; pruritus; nausea; vomiting; flatulence; dizziness and fatigue
Dosage
Duodenal Ulcer : 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks
Benign Gastric Ulcer : 30 mg once daily for 8 weeks
Reflux Oesophagitis : 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks
Elderly, patients with Hepatic Dysfunction and Renal Function Disorders : 30 mg daily
Direction
– Use in the morning before meals to reach optimal acid-secretion effects
– Capsules should be swallowed directly, no need to shell or chew
– Prolonged use is not recommended because of limited clinical experience
