Cefizox
Cefizox is a third-generation of cephalosporin with a broad-spectrum of
activity against gram-positive and negative microorganisms, also stable to
many beta-lactamases.
According to the age and condition of patient, Cefizox could be injected
intravenously or intramuscularly, or as an infusion which is effective to
treat infectious diseases such as respiratory-tract infection, urinary-tract
infection, bone & joint infection, skin infection, intra-abdominal
infection, ENT infection, secondary infections of wounds or burns,
meningitis by H influenzae and septicemia.
Composition
Each vial contains :
Ceftizoxime sodium 500 mg (potency)
Ceftizoxime sodium 1 g (potency)
Indication
Infetion treatment caused by aerobical-gram positive and negative microorganisms, also anaerobical bacteria
Contra Indication
Patients with history of shock caused by Ceftizoxime sodium; patients with history of hypersensitivity to lidocaine or anilide type local anesthetics
Warning
– Patients who are hypersensitivity to Penicillin/Cephalosphorin
– Renal dysfunction
– Poor oral nutrition and parenteral nutrition
– Bronchial asthma
– Skin rash or urticaria
– Pregnancy and lactation
Adverse Reaction
Shock; hypersensitivity reactions (discontinue drug using); GI disturbances; vitamin deficiencies; and headache
Dosage
Adult : 0,5 – 2 g/day IM or IV in 2-4 devided dose, may be increased to 4 g/day
Children ≥ 6 month : 40-80 mg/kg/day IV in 2-4 devided dose, may be increased to 120 mg/kg/day
