Gejala awal sklerosis multipel tersering berupa
gangguan sensibilitas (rasa baal).
Kelemahan anggota gerak pada sklerosis multipel
bersifat simetris
Mudah lelah (fatigue) merupakan gejala yang sering
dijumpai.
Sklerosis multipel sebagian besar bersifat progresif.
Diagnosis pasti sklerosis multipel melalui pemeriksaan
elektrodiagnostik.
Kelainan patologi susunan saraf pada sklerosis multipel
ialah berupa infark.
Pada sklerosis multipel bisa dijumpai gangguan
psikiatrik.

Sindrom Upper Motor Neuron (UMN) disebabkan oleh
kerusakan jaras kortikospinal.
Sindrom ini sering dijumpai pada penederita pasca
stroke.
Spastisitas disebabkan oleh kekakuan sendi yang
berlebihan.
Kontraktur dapat disebabkan oleh atrofi otot.
Botulinum toksin terutama bermanfaat untuk spastisitas
fokal.
Baklofen terutama bermanfaat untuk terapi perifer.
Prosedur bedah paling tepat untuk spastisitas generalisata.
Botulinum toksin bekerja mengambat transmisi impuls
saraf sepanjang akson.
Efek terapi botulinum toksin bisa bertahan sampai 3-6
bulan.
Saat ini yang digunakan dalam klinik ialah botulinum
toksin tipe A.
