ROLE OF DOPAMINE IN AUTISTIC
DISORDERS

Autism is a pervasive develop-
mental disorder. Previous reports
demonstrated the role of neuro-
transmitters abnormality in autism.
This review describes the role of
dopamine in autistic disorder.
Previous findings showed the
HVA (dopamine metabolite) level
was higher in autistic children. The
administration of dopamine
agonist will worsen the agitation,
stereotypic movement, and
hyperactivity in autistic children.
Previous studies showed the
effectiveness of dopamine anta-
gonist in treating behaviour pro-
blems in autistic children.
