Untuk jelasnya berikut ini kami kutip leaflet dari The Ventnor Foundation.
The Ventnor Foundation.
The Foundation through its Exchange Program continues to offer an opportunity
for young graduates to come to the U.S.A. for a year of postgraduate medical training,
to travel, and to develop better international understanding.
Over 1100 doctors from various countries have participated in the program since 1951.
A group of hospitals on the eastern seaboard cooperating with the Foundation, all
approved by the American Medical Association, provide a variety of 12 month training
programs under the supervision of a Director of Medical Education, practising
physicians, and board of certified specialists. This work is generally a requisite for the
better residencies. For the benefit of its Exchangees, the Foundation ex tends financial
assistance for transportation, fees, and reference material as well as providing
orientation information.
Stipends range from $ 7500 annually with food/lodging generally provided at little
or no charge to $ 10.000 with cost of food/lodging deducted so that the net stipends
are roughly egual. Part of the difference is a reflection of higher living costs in the
more urbanized locations.
An appointment to an approved U.S. hospital requires (1) the passing of an ECFMG
(Educational
Council for Foreign Medical
Graduates) examination,
and (2)
certification by ECFMG. A candidate may register for any scheduled ECFMG exam by
presenting a certified statement that he is a bonafide student in a recognized medical
school, or a photocopy of the appropriate certificate showing that he has completed
such a prescribed course.
