TREATMENT OF INTERMEDIATE
GRADE NON HODGKIN LYM
PHOMAS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF

Investigation had been made
on the therapy results of the Inter-
mediate-Grade Non Hodgkin
Lymphomas admitted at the
Dept. Of mt. Medicine Dr Sutomo
Hospital/Airlangga University
School of Medicine in Surabaya
during 1986-1994(9 years period).
Chemotherapy consisted of
Cyclophosphamide only (C),
combination of Cyclophospha
mide. Oncovin, Prednison (COP)
and combination of Cyclophos-
priamide, Hydroxydaunorubi-
cine, Oncovin, Prednison (CHOP).
There were 56 cases of NHL-
intermediate-grade group, 39
cases of DLPD, 15 cases of DM
and 2 cases of DH subtypes
(Rappaport classfication) consist
ing of 37 males and 19 female;
the m/f ratio was 1,9; ages range
from 12-81 years, mean age 48,9
years.
This investigation revealed: 1)
therapy result of C-only was in-
adequate, but the sample was
too small. 2) The Remission Rate
of CHOP therapy was significan-
tly better compared to COP the
rapy (p 0,01) for the interme-
iate group as a whole as well as
for the DLPD subgroup. 3) There
were also tendencies that espe-
cially for the DH subgroup, it was
very responsive to CHOP therapy,
but again the sample was too
small.
In conclusion: the NHL of the
intermediate grade group needs
CHOP combination chemothe-
rapy for optimal results.
